I had the awesome opportunity of meeting children's book illustrator Jim LaMarche, and he demonstrated his mixed media (acrylic washes with color pencil on top) technique for us. I really adore the soft lighting and gorgeous colors from his renderings. After our professional illustrator demos, our homework assignment for the week would be to make a small illustration with the technique of said featured artist. Grahaha, I even managed to scope out his paints while he was working and got most of the colors in his palette XP But anyway.. I give you Mr. Ferret.
